The July meeting of the NJWO featured a video documentary on Hurricanes and the NYC Area,
which aired this past month on the Discovery Channel, named "Hurricane
X." It talked about how NYC is in fact one of the east coasts most dangerous
places and very prone to a strong hurricane.

The June meeting of the NJWO featured our very own long time member and renown weather historian Roger Brickner.
Roger talked about "Asian Weather." Roger also brought a friend from India!

Our very own NJWO Secretary, Dennis O'Keefe, gave us a
presentation on "Which way is North."
April 99
CUNY Professor Stan Gedzelman gave an excellent
presentation on "Our Weather." Dr. Stan showed us some computer programs
he wrote to display NJ observations in an animated format.
March 99
The March meeting of the NJWO was a very special
meeting. This was a special testimonial dinner for former NJWO editor John Bowen in appreciation for the MANY fine years
John served as editor of The Weather Shelter. For

February 1999
The February meeting of the NJWO featured Larry Cosgrove,
Meteorologist at UPN 9, WWOR-TV, in Secaucus. During the week, Larry works behind the
scenes with Storm Field preparing forecasts and on-air graphics. He also does on-air
fill-ins for either Field when they are on vacation. Larry told us about his career, both
past and present, and showed us some graphics from his work, followed by a Q&A

Jan: Former NJWO President Scott
Gordon hosted the meeting featuring NY/NJ Weather personality Barry Grossman. Dave
Robinson also joined us via cellular phone for a Winter update!

The October meeting of the NJWO took place on Wednesday October 28th at 7:30 PM sharp in our usual
location. Our very own New Jersey State Climatologist Dave
Robinson treated us on a report of the record setting NJ weather courtesy of El
Nino. A healthy 29 members and guests were in attendance.

Meeting
The NJ US Coast Guard (Christopher Nauss) was
on hand to tell us about how they prepare for weather events and how the weather impacts
their routine. We also welcomed Kean University
Meteorology students,as our guests along with several folks from the NWS Upton Open
house! It was a great meeting with a large crowd. Thanks everyone! |
